My background is in English education, and I work with students of diverse backgrounds to help them become academically proficient users of the English language, which can hopefully provide multiple pathways for them in this increasingly globalized world. I utilize multi-media to teach through sharing the diverse stories of nations, people, writers and fictional characters that make up the complex narrative that is the United States, and beyond. This includes the stories of the various diaspora including African, Caribbean, Asian and Latin American experiences. I believe that we make sense of ourselves and the identities we enact and inhabit through stories. I am, for that reason, also a storyteller.
